{submit}

How many of you would like to submit, but for whatever reason don't?  There is a cool call going on at Scrapbook News and Review (the largest online scrapbook magazine in the world!)  The call is for their Holiday Sampler.  Scrappers, card makers, altered art, and general holiday craftiness-they want it all.  But, they need it fast, like November 1st fast.  The best part, it doesn't have to be brand new!  Did you make a terrific layout or card during the holidays last year?  Did you do a cute kid's crafts while the kiddos were home on vacation last Christmas?  Send it in!
The beauty of SNR is that they operate in real time, not 6 months out like a paper magazine does.  The magazine has a ton of eye candy, terrific articles and lots of tutorials.  I think you'll like it!

Go forth now and submit!  :)  Happy Friday!

{carrot cake}

It's Tuesday and you know what that means!  A new birthday card challenge at Party Time Tuesdays!  This week we have a fun challenge, to create a card using the colors of carrot cake!  Even if you don't like carrot cake  (and really how could you not,  2 words people, cream cheese!  *laugh*)  its a great time of year to work with brown, orange and ivory.  Make sure you include some kind of birthday sentiment on the front of the card.  Link it to the PTT blog by 8:00 pm Monday of next week to be eligible for the Top 3!

Here is my carrot cake inspired card:
I dug deep in my stash for everything on this card.  Love that.  So what are you waiting for?  Make a card, send it to someone or give it to someone to send and make the world a better place!  :)

Happy Tuesday!

{shimmer}

Thanks to my friend, Scarlett I made this golden tag of glimmery goodness (I love a good alliteration!)  She challenged us to an adult "timeout" to play with goop today.  I got out my Dreamweaver Stencils Embossing Paste, some gold pearl ex and my snowflake stencil.  I mixed the embossing paste and pearl ex together on a paper plate and then used an old credit card to smooth it over the stencil. I love the way the pearl ex makes the embossing paste shimmer.  I added a little to the outside of the scalloped circle too.

 Here is a close-up:

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

{boo}

There is a new challenge over at Party Time Tuesdays!  It is the ever popular "Anything Goes" challenge.   What does that mean you ask?  Well let me tell ya!  :)  Make a birthday card with some sort of birthday sentiment on the front. Simple, eh?  Well, you have to take a photo of it, upload it to your computer, play with the lighting (if you're like me), save it, post it to your blog and then link it up over on the PTT blog.  :)

Here is my cheeky card:
Dont forget to send your card to someone-it'll make their day!

Happy Wednesday, friends!

{two-fer}

It has been a while since I've done a "two-fer"!  I made this card today for the color challenge over at ScrapFIT, where my friend, Kristin is on the Design Team.  The challenge is to use lime green, orange, purple & black, one of which needs to be card stock.

I used the sketch challenge from The Paper Variety to complete my card and both challenges!

Here is the fun card sketch:

I think my bat needs braces!  :)  Thanks for stopping by!

{twisted}

My friends WendiVal  are 2 of the new designers over at Twisted Sketches.  Congrats to both of them and to the rest of the new Design Team!!  Here is the sketch:

The "twist" is to use jewels.  Here is what I did:

I think this might have been the fastest cards I've ever made.  I'm notoriously slow.  I agonize over every decision.  But that spider web transparency (Hambly) made it so easy!  I added some green and orange bling to the backs of each spider, which by the way, is confetti from Michael's.

Thanks to  Anam over at Twisted Sketches for a fun sketch to play with!

{happy things}

Well, it is the middle of the month and over at My Sketch World that means Lucy gives us a terrific new sketch to play with!  Those of us on the card team got this lovely:

It was a little too curvy for me though, you know I like a straight line.  :) So I thought I would do something a little different.  I altered a Starbucks Cup Cozy using the sketch.  (and straight lines *laugh*)

I have a feeling that rub wont stay forever, but when it does come off, I can replace it with another one.

I also had some time today to make a couple cards for our World Card Making Day Crop.  I didn't get near as many done as I wanted and hope to maybe do a few more tonight for the midnight deadline.

This is a "sister card" to the apple card I did.   I find painting fruit a lot of fun!  :)

Here is a Halloween card using some yummy Girl's Paperie, "Toil & Trouble" paper and a two fun tags  Vanessa sent to me:

Hope you are enjoying fall wherever you are!

{fall}

Do you have someone in your life who celebrates a birthday during the fall season?  Why don't you kill two birds with one stone?  Make a fall themed birthday card that includes a pumpkin or a leaf for them and enter it in this week's Party Time Tuesdays Fall Themed Birthday Card Challenge!  Honestly, don't you love getting a handmade card?  It says i love you even if the sentiment on the front says "Happy Birthday", don't you think?

Here is my card for the week:

Last week, 85 people joined us at PTT and made cards for someone they cared about.  Give it a try this week, make some one's day with a card made by you and I bet you'll feel great doing it!

Happy Tuesday, friends!

{favor}

If you have a spare second today, please stop by my friend, Patti's blog!  She took a break from creating for a few months. Yesterday, she stuck her toe in to test the creative waters as it were.  I think she needs a little encouragement to dive back in!!  Leave her a comment and then come back here and let me know that you did.  I will draw a name for a RAK from those of you who leave comments on both of our blogs today!

Thanks!

{ptt}

Check out Party Time Tuesday's new challenge today!  It is an "Anything Goes" birthday card challenge.   All you need to do is make a new card with a birthday sentiment of some kind on the front!  Could it get an easier?  I think not.  :)   Link your blog post or your photo of your card to the PTT blog and you're all set.  Kristie will now be giving away a monthly prize!  There will be a random person chosen each week for the draw at the end of the month.  If you play along all month you will get your name in the draw too!

Here is my card:

Hope you play with us this week.  I'm sure you have someone in your life that has a birthday coming up and would appreciate a handmade card from you!  :)

Happy Tuesday, friends!

{jb love}

The World card Making Day swap challenge over at My Sketch World came with 2 challenges.  The first was to make a card from our swap goodies using one of Lucy's sketches.  If you scroll down a bit you can see that card.  The second challenge was to make a card using the scrap goodies with some ink.

Voila:

Have you checked out the new challenge blog, The Paper Variety?  Abby & Suzanne are 2 creative chicas and have put together a wonderful DT!  Their current challenge is to make a project with something you might see in the sky.  I think I will share this card with them.

 The challenges resume at Party Time Tuesdays tomorrow!!  Kristie went and got herself married in September so we took the month off.  Congrats to Kristie & Mike!

Thanks for stopping by.  :)

{wcmd}

I woke up yesterday with the best of intentions of making cards all day long.  Ha.  Who was I kidding?  Between my sinus headache and being the only parent home for the weekend I managed to get a card done.  That's right, on my holy day of card making, I made one card.  Uno.  Eyns.  Une. Um.  You just don't know how bad I feel.  Both physically and mentally.  :)  Seriously, my head feels like a bowling ball.

But enough about that.  Here is my card.  I got these lovely Jenni Bowlin goodies from sweet Erica through a product swap at My Sketch World.  I used one of Lucy's fabulous sketches.

Here it is with the little card pulled out:

There are a lot of fun card challenges going on for World Card Making Day at My Sketch World.  There are prizes involved people, so come join us, wont you?  :)

Happy Sunday, friends!

{alternative}

This week's challenge for the Glee Club Contest over at Dixie Pieces threw me for a loop!  The music genre was "alternative".   The challenge was to choose a title from a list of Train songs and make a layout with a grungy alternative feel to it.  I {heart} Train, they are one of my favorite bands and I have a secret crush on Pat Monohan, but shhhh, don't tell anybody.  :)  We have a week to get these challenges done and I made it last night by the hair of my (double) chinny-chin chin!

Without further ado, here is my {clean} alternative layout, Anything but Ordinary:

I grew up in a small town.  "Alternative" there meant some guys wore chains attached to their billfolds.  That was it.  Seriously.  I went to college in an even smaller town and "alternative" wasn't really big on my little christian college campus either.  But my suite mate was so cool.  She pushed it a little fashion wise.  So what little I learned about "alternative" I learned from Nancy.  A little leather, a little lace and a little shine.  The brick wall is a really old Hambly transparency.  So, that is this small town girl's version of grunge.  :)

By the way, HAPPY WORLD CARD MAKING DAY!!   How exciting!  We are having a little get together over at My Sketch World.  Please come and join us!  Lucy has some great tutorials ready to go and there are always some wonderful challenges going on!

Happy Saturday, friends!
