{misting, inking, painting} oh my!

We have a new challenge up at The Paper Variety today!

It's time to get messy!  Or if you're like me, not.  :)  Don't get me wrong, I love to get messy, just not in my paper crafting.  See what I mean?  I started this project thinking it would be wrapping paper, but the bag wasn't big enough to cover the box so I made it a "present topper".  :)

I used a big 12x12 stencil, inked all the openings except the scallops which I pierced and then hand-stitched.  I used some paper from my stash for the rest of the present and put this on top.  With the exception of the stitching, it was quick and easy.  Using a stencil with ink or mist would be a great way to decorate a plain gift bag too!

Our sponsor this week is:

Leanne is offering up May's "Summery" kit for one lucky winner!

Post your newly made paper project to TPV blog by noon EST, Tuesday, May 10th to be considered for the prize.  If you would like your project to be considered for the Sunday Submission Spotlight, have it in by noon EST, Sunday, May 8th.

Happy Wednesday, friends!

  1. WOW! That is one heck of a present topper! :-0 Absolutely LOVE the scalloped stitching!

  2. This looks so cool! I love the stitching on there, it really pops against the kraft paper!

  3. This reminds me of something...but I can't quite put my finger on it. It feels Scandanavian to me. ;) LOL!!! I love it!!! I love the stitching and the stenciling and the colors. :) :)

  4. very cool present topper, jan!! it reminds me of a hanky!

  5. This is spectacular! I think it should be framed, I hope the recipient opens the gift carefully!

If you want to be happy, be.
