{day 7} art journal

My mom died almost 18 years ago of early onset Alzheimer's Disease.  We lost her long before she died.  It was very sad.  :(  She was 65 when she died.  Now, when I forget things, it has a whole new meaning. I worry.  I don't let it dominate my life, but it is always there.  When I cant find my car keys,  when I walk out of the house without my purse or I forget the name of a book I read a few years ago.  All normal things everyone forgets from time to time, but for me there is always a little added anxiety that comes with it.

So, today's tag is in honor of my Mom and for a friend's Mom who is suffering now.

Day 7: remember

(had to remove photo for now, will put it back up next month)

Happy weekend, friends!  Be good.

  1. Half & half butterfly, huh? Talk about fabulous, striking design!!! Come on, Jan...you must have a degree in design or architecture, perhaps? You are so good at eye catching, simple design. Do you think of this stuff as you're driving down the road? Maybe when you're making b'fast for the boys? I must know! :)

  2. Cool! I love the ying-yang idea. I'm sorry about your mom. That must have been very hard for you. Try not to let it get ahold of you sweetie. Stay strong!

  5. I'm speechless...okay, not speechless...but speechless! Get what I'm sayings? My grandpa just passed away from Altzheimers, my grandma from dimensis 7-8 years ago. I'm terrified...terrified for my father, for me, for my kids....Many hugs to you! FABULOUS tag!

  7. So very, very sorry about your mom...I lost my grandfather to Alzheimer's a few years back. (Yesterday, 1-7-11, would have been his 90th birthday). He was a WWII vet and an amazing and vibrant man until the Alzheimer's took over, so I totally understand your feelings when you forget something...I do the same thing! Beautiful tag to commemmorate your mom!

    Hugs,
    Becky

  9. I missed seeing your tag, but will look for it when you re-post it! I totally feel for you losing your mama to Alzheimers - a TERRIBLE disease - and so early in life. My mom's sister was diagnosed with Alzheimers not long ago & is deteriorating quickly. It's so sad.
